GED

The GED Program is an alternative pathway to graduation.  Students are given an entrance exam (TABE test).  Depending on their scores, students are placed in either the Pre-GED or GED class.  Pre-GED students have a reading level between 6.0 and 8.9.  The Pre-GED class focuses on basic skills needed to perform at the GED level.  GED students have a reading level between 9.0 and 12.9.  The GED class focuses on remedial and test preparation skills to pass the GED test.  The GED Program also offers tutoring and academic support.  It also provides multiple support services, including internships, college and career guidance and individual counseling.  The internships are offered through the Learning to Work Program (see Learning To Work for more information). The GED Program uses a hands-on approach that provides each participating student with an individual staff member, who will guide and mentor each student through the process to graduation.

Program Hours:  Monday – Thursday from 5:30-8:30pm

Eligibility for the program is limited to youth ages 18-21 who have a reading level of 6.0
