Community Development in Jackson Heights

In our Jackson Heights center, we are working with partner organizations to bring workshops and financial legal services clinics to the community while also promoting increased access to fair and just financial services. As a member of the city-wide Immigrant Financial Justice Network, we’re working to monitor and promote equal and fair access to financial services in immigrant communities.

Financial services are often too expensive for low-income residents in our communities. We are organizing to establish a community development Credit Union, to ensure that low-income and immigrant residents of the Jackson Heights/Elmhurst area can access secure and affordable financial services and enable them to build their credit histories.
This article explains the importance of local community banking.
