Every day, 600 English language learners receive free intensive English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes from multi-lingual professional teachers through QCH’s Adult Education program. Our classes are filled to capacity every semester and interested students apply through a highly competitive lottery system that turns away 3 out of 4 applicants who are desperate to learn English so that they can enhance their lives by getting better jobs, participating in their children’s education and becoming active in their communities.
We currently offer:
- Five different levels of ESOL classes. Click for class schedule.
- Access to immigration assistance.
- A Community Action Group where students get involved in various campaigns.
- Community Technology Lab which incorporates literacy, ESOL, and technology.
The Adult Education program in Jackson Heights has served immigrants in Western Queens since 1989. It has expanded its scope of offerings since 2000 when QCH assumed its sponsorship. Students hail from more than 86 countries and speak over 27 languages.
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9:00am – 10:00pm Friday, 9:00am – 3:00pm
